IASP Presidential Task force on Cannabis and Cannabinoid Analgesia

Summary: In this publication the IASP taskforce provides an overview of the evidence for the use of cannabis and cannabinoids for pain relief. The taskforce concluded that there is not enough high-level evidence of efficacy and safety to endorse the use of cannabis and cannabinoids for pain management. Instead, they call for additional research and education to determine 1) the types of pain and characteristics of individuals that would benefit from this type of therapy, and 2) the risks and benefits from particular cannabinoid compounds.
